Castro Marim, located in southeast area of Algarve, has one of the biggest salines in the country. Besides the quality of the salt at Água Mãe, you are able to try some salt baths follow by clay wrapping. We just needed to try this open-air spa!
First rule: Wear an old and dark bikini! Second rule: Ignore the smell. It can be smelly but trust us, you will have a lot of fun and the result will be priceless.
Before you get into these “natural salt pools”, you will be invited to prepare your face and the areas that will be exposed to the sun using the first waters that are removed from the salines. Then you will exfoliate the body with salt flower and cover the face and body areas that are going to be exposed to the sun with clay. And so the journey begins!
Enjoy the mind-blowing feeling of floating in the pools due to the major concentration of salt. This bath can last a duration of 30 minutes to 1 hour. After the bath, you will pass to the clay body wrapping. It may feel strange when the clay starts to dry, but the results are worthy of world top hammam.
