Located in the region of Vila Nova da Barquinha, the castle of Almourol is one fine example of ancient military architecture that represents the period of the beginning of the kingdom of Portugal. It is a site connected with the Order of the Temple, therefore a very mystical place.
Only accessible by boat, but not to be missed if you are in the region!
